Listen closely: July is here, and a lot of families are about to waste serious money traveling to ID camps for schools they were never realistically being recruited by.

If you don’t know your child’s Athletic Fit before signing up for a camp, you’re guessing. And guessing is expensive.

College coaches recruit from the same pools year after year. If your player doesn’t match the profile they typically take, you’re not increasing your odds — you’re just paying for exposure that likely won’t lead anywhere.

Here’s how to take control of July:

1. Audit the roster
Look at the current roster and player bios for your target schools. Where did those athletes come from? ECNL? GA? MLS Next?
Of the roughly 300 female 2027 Division I commits we reviewed, fewer than 5% came from outside ECNL or GA.

2. Know your Athletic Fit

We just finished a deep dive into the remaining 2027 Division 1 landscape in our region. If your goal is to play D1 soccer in the Northeast, you need to look at the cold, hard math.

Across the remaining 16 realistic D1 programs in the area, there are roughly 70 total roster spots left. That’s it.

Take a hard look at this list. The schools on this list are where the actual scholarships and roster spots are sitting. If you are too proud to email the coach at the #289 RPI school, your kid isn't playing D1 college soccer.

Our data shows Central Connecticut (CCSU) and URI are currently the most active programs reading our newsletter blasts—though tracking shows URI is notoriously slow to reply to individual emails, so don't take their silence personally.
